Sixth Grade Teacher
Vision Charter School is searching for a full time Teacher at the 6th grade level for the 2010-2011 school year. We are looking for a caring, exciting, structured, hands-on educator who can make lessons come to life for our students! VCS is committed to selecting an applicant who will integrate art, music, and drama into their teaching. This teacher needs to be able to team with other teachers and work together well. Vision Charter School is committed to providing an accelerated learning environment in a caring and nurturing environment in an effort to produce well-educated, respectful citizen leaders!

Preference will be given to applicants with the qualities listed below:
• a minimum of five years of teaching experience
• additional talents and expertise to bring to VCS

History Teacher

Vision Charter School is searching for a full time History Teacher at the 7th-12th grade level. We are looking for a caring, exciting, structured, hands-on educator who can make History come to life for our students! VCS is committed to selecting an applicant who will integrate art, music, and drama into the teaching of History. Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the qualities listed below:

1. multiple endorsements
2. a minimum of five years of teaching experience
3. masters degree
4. additional talents and expertise to bring to VCS

Successful applicants will provide evidence of certification and endorsements in the area of teaching 7-12th grade History and be considered Highly Qualified to teach Secondary History courses. Methods for achieving Highly Qualified Status are listed below.

· Certificate with appropriate endorsement earned after 2004,which included the appropriate Praxis II testing.
· Certificate with appropriate endorsement earned prior to 2004; HOUSSE rubric on file with the district for specific endorsement/teaching assignment or successful passage of appropriate Praxis II for specific endorsement areas/teaching assignment.
· Certificate with verification of a major course of study in this specific content area; minimum of 30 semester credits.

Substitute Teachers:
Vision Charter School is looking for five substitute teachers to be available throughout the year for substituting in the office, classroom, recess duty, and other duties as assigned.
Substitutes will be compensated $75 a day. A work day is defined as 7:30a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with a thirty minute lunch. Half day rate will be considered four hours and will equal $37.5. No benefits will be available for this position. Approved substitute teachers will be on call as needed and not guaranteed any number of hours or days of work during the school year. Approved substitutes will be required to pay the $40 fingerprinting fee. Applicants must be willing to be called at 6:30 in the morning if needed.

Successful applicants will have a minimum of 32 credits towards a degree, demonstrated ability to communicate with professional colleagues, interact respectfully with students, demonstrate respect for authority, be trainable, be a problem solver, motivated, and punctual. Preference will be given to individuals familiar with the charter, climate, expectations, and culture of VCS.

This position will include supervising and instructing students. Applicants must be able to carry out lesson plans, maintain a positive learning environment, employ strong classroom management and discipline practices as outlined by the school.
